A very important battle has been won in an ongoing war for control over every aspect of life through Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Scores, while investors profit. This scheme, fueled by Rockefeller funding, would have generated millions, billions, and eventually trillions of dollars for investors by creating companies on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) to control land, water, and air. The planned mission of each company was to meet the United Nations’ Environmental Sustainability Goals using ESG scores to regulate public and private land and its use by farmers, ranchers, and other landowners.

On January 9, 2024, Oklahoma’s Attorney General, Gentner Drummond, along with Attorneys General, in a group from twenty-five states, signed a letter strongly condemning the plan of the Rockefeller funded, Intrinsic Exchange Group-IEG and the NYSE. The AGs who signed the letter were from: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

The AG letter followed the work of American Stewards of Liberty Executive Director, Margaret Byfield, Congresswoman Harriet Hageman (R-Wyoming) and other allies across America working to maintain our freedom. Such a show of force with half of the states in the country opposing this plan brought a quick response from the NYSE.

On January 17, 2024, the NYSE announced the end of their plan for Natural Asset Companies (NAC). President of the NYSE Group, Stacey Cunningham, described their plan: “With the introduction of Natural Asset Companies, the NYSE will provide investors an innovative mechanism to financially support the sustainability initiatives they deem critical to our future. Our partnership with Intrinsic Exchange Group is another example of the NYSE tapping into our community to drive meaningful progress on ESG issues with a solutions-based approach.”

NYSE’s website provides further description: “To address the large and complex challenges of climate change and the transition to a more sustainable economy, NYSE, and Intrinsic Exchange Group (IEG) are pioneering a new class of listed companies based on nature and the benefits that nature provides (termed ecosystem services). NACs will capture the intrinsic and productive value of nature and provide a store of value based on the vital assets that underpin our entire economy and make life on earth possible. Examples of natural assets that could benefit from the NAC structure include natural landscapes such as forests, wetlands, and coral reefs, as well as working lands such as farms.”

30x30 and NACs

American Stewards of Liberty have been leading the effort to expose and stop President Biden’s 30x30 plan since he went into office in January 2021 and signed the Executive Order to implement it, by-passing Congress. 30x30 is a plan to take 30% of the land and water out of human use by 2030 and “return it to original condition.” It calls for placing original animal species like bison or wolves on the land to roam freely, giving tribes authority to restore their culture and to lead well-funded environmental programs. In conservation agreements with the government, often signed by farmers and ranchers, the wording has been changed. What has always been a limited time agreement – like 5 or 10 years – may now be written as permanent, perpetual or in perpetuity. This would lock the use of the land forever including for future generations.

In September 2023, I attended the American Stewards of Liberty 30x30 Summit, hosted by Texas Agriculture Commissioner, Sid Miller, in Fort Worth, Texas, along with Sandy Dean and Oklahoma State Senator Casey Murdock (R-Felt). Margaret Byfield presented her research on NACs, and informed us of the immediate danger they would bring to our freedom.

Less than two weeks later, on October 4th, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued a proposed rule to approve the listing of NACs for investment. On October 31, Sen. Murdock conducted an Interim Study in the Oklahoma Legislature on 30x30 at the state capitol. Margaret Byfield presented her research on NACs, 30x30 and solutions for upholding our State’s Rights.

When the NYSE announced withdrawal of the NAC plan on January 17, 2024, Margaret Byfield wrote this excerpt in an article:

“On October 4, 2023, the Securities Exchange Commission issued a proposed rule to approve listing ‘Natural Asset Companies (NACs)’ on the New York Stock Exchange. They did this quietly. Not one press release was issued by any of the players.

This rule would have allowed investors such as Blackrock, Bill Gates, and possibly even China to hold the ecosystem rights to the land, water, air, and natural processes of the properties enrolled in NACs – including our National Parks!

NACs are the way elite investors planned to profit from the protected lands created by Biden’s 30×30 agenda – the permanent protection of at least 30 percent of our land and oceans by 2030. While they have been driving middle class Americans off their land, they have also been positioning themselves for total political and financial control of our natural resources.

Today’s action stops the private attempt to profit off of our protected lands. However, the White House is still proceeding with a strategy to monetize ‘natural processes,’ and ‘ecosystem services’ and add this to the federal balance sheet through ‘Natural Capital Accounts.’”

The American Stewards of Liberty article includes this acknowledgment regarding the effort to stop NAC: “When we first discovered this in September of 2021, very few people were even aware of this incredible attempt to fleece American’s property rights. This victory would not have been possible without the bold and early action from Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY), UT Treasurer Marlo Oaks, Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) and Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-AR). It also took the dedicated action from our members, who made calls, filed comments and educated their communities. We know they will try to find another way to accomplish this, but now we have an educated force for liberty they cannot ignore.”

Oklahoma’s Continued Work Against 30x30

As Margaret Byfield said, we now have “An Educated Force for Liberty, they cannot ignore!” That is what we are working for statewide in Oklahoma, to stop the 30x30 land grab! We are continuing to help educate the public and elected officials on the issues involved, and the danger of losing control of private property including food production on farms and ranches.

In 2021, Gov. Kevin Stitt signed a letter with a group of 15 Governors opposing the 30x30 plan. In 2023, County Commissioners in 17 Counties signed resolutions opposing the 30x30 plan. The 17 counties with resolutions are: Beckham, Blaine, Caddo, Cimarron, Custer, Dewey, Garfield, Garvin, Grady, Grant, Harper, Johnston, Logan, Rogers, Roger Mills, Stephens and Washita.

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau has passed a resolution which reads: “Due to current promotion of the 30x30 agenda, we reaffirm and strongly support continued private property ownership and rights. We encourage Oklahoma Farm Bureau to be very attentive to indirect attempts to further the 30x30 agenda.”

Oklahomans must continue to work and pass state-level legislation to protect our state from this 30x30 federal overreach to control our private land, including farms and ranches. 30x30 Bills for 2024 have now been filed in the Oklahoma legislature:

- Senate – SB 1942 and SB 1997

- House of Representatives – HB 3153
