The 2011 Conservative Index scores for 23 members published in our summer edition need to be corrected. The score of ten of those legislators increased while 13 decreased. While the date and the vote totals for HJR 2002, the Cap on Property Tax Valuations, were correctly stated in the bill description for Conservative Index, the vote posted on the Legislative website for the House was not the final vote on the bill, but was instead an earlier vote. As we went to press, the earlier vote was still the only vote posted on the website. However, by consulting the House Journal, the correct vote was found.

It is our practice to use the final vote on a bill since legislators will sometimes change their position on an issue over the course of the legislative session, or due to the wording of various versions of bills. Some members went from No to Yes, others from Yes to No, while others missed the final vote, or the earlier vote. As a result, the scores of the affected legislators changed from three to ten points. The corrected Conservative Index for the House is posted on our website.
