The report sent by DHS to every police department in the nation was not a flub by a bigot in the Obama administration. It was a very deliberate smear by bigots in the Obama administration. And it actually has little to do with law enforcement, aside from the administration's desire to see its opposition harassed by law enforcement. This report is political with two aims: 1) to smear political opposition to administration policies, and in so doing scare the public with a message that such people are a threat to the public's safety; and 2) to go after talk radio, since talk radio is the voice of those deemed potential terrorists by the Obama administration. The administration will seek to influence content on talk radio by changing the Federal Communications Commission licensing guidelines for broadcasters around the country. If a radio station can be accused of whipping its audience into a frenzy, the administration will say that that station is a threat to domestic security and will seek to prevent that station's broadcast license from being renewed.
Here are two excerpts from the DHS/Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A), report, which is titled Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment:
On page two under "Key Findings" there is this:
"The DHS/Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) has no specific information that domestic rightwing terrorists are currently planning acts of violence, but rightwing extremists may be gaining new recruits by playing on their fears about several emergent issues. The economic downturn and the election of the first African American president present unique drivers for rightwing radicalization and recruitment."
Here is another excerpt from page four that speaks of:
"...white supremacists' longstanding exploitation of social issues such as abortion, inter-racial crimes, and same-sex marriage. "
So if you oppose abortion, crime, and same sex-marriage, you may be a white supremacist. Your tax dollars at work.
It is disturbing that a man, Barack Hussein Obama, whose political career began in the house of onetime terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorn (who actually did commit violent acts), would conclude that people who own guns, protest taxes, support the right to life of the unborn and traditional marriage and fight for their country overseas, are potential terrorists. It is also interesting to note that the same leftists who screamed bloody murder when the Patriot Act was passed into law back in 2002 are silent about that law today. I fear we are all going to be surprised by what the next four years will bring.
H.R. 1,The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, otherwise known as the stimulus bill, passed the House on January 28th by a vote of 244 to 188. No Republican voted for this stimulus package. Dan Boren is the only member of the state delegation to vote for this boondoggle, even though 11 Democrats joined Republicans in voting no. The Senate passed H.R. 1 with a price tag of $789 billion on February 10, 2009 by a vote of 61 to 37 with three Republicans, Spector of Pennsylvania and Collins and Snowe of Maine voting yes. President Obama signed it into law on February 12, 2009. The money is to be spent by the end of this fiscal year, which concludes on September 30, 2009.
Last fall, I looked up the national debt clock on Senator Coburn's Web Site and reported in that issue that the national debt went up by $17,000 a second, one million a minute, and that we owed the government nine trillion, six hundred two billion, two hundred one million, six hundred fifty-six thousand, eight hundred ninety-seven dollars. The burden on each citizen was $31,405.71. That was on October 9, 2008. A little over six months later, that same national debt clock goes up by $43,000 a second, one million every 23 seconds! Now the total is eleven trillion, one hundred and sixteen billion, nine hundred sixty-three million dollars and counting. At least that is what it was around 7 p.m. on Saturday April 18th. Your share of that debt is now $36,300.57.
There was a very interesting, front page article in the Tulsa Beacon newspaper on March 19, 2009 titled "Fiscal Conservatives" Fight for Spending, which reported that according to the watchdog group, www.legistorm.com, in 2008 Senator Jim Inhofe sponsored earmarks amounting to $111,262,200 and co-sponsored $86,955,400, in more earmarks for a total of $198,217,600! Congressman John Sullivan sponsored $735,000 and co-sponsored $46,136,500 for a total of $46,871,500. Congressman Dan Boren sponsored $6,908,000, and he co-sponsored $3,600,000 more for a total of $10,508,000. Congressman Tom Cole sponsored $2,259,000 and co-sponsored $9,918,500 more for $12,177,500. Congressman Frank Lucas sponsored $1,661,500 and co-sponsored $15,556,200 more for a total of $17,217,700. And Congresswoman Mary Fallin, who has announced her bid for governor, sponsored $1,982,000 and co-sponsored $3,382,200 more for a total of $5,364,200. Senator Tom Coburn sponsored $0 earmarks and co-sponsored $0 earmarks in 2008. With the exception of Senator Coburn, the rest of our delegation don't seem to realize that this nation is broke.
Beware of false messengers among us. I was disappointed to hear that Fox News Radio's John Gibson was in Tulsa to host a tea party this past April 15th. John Gibson is a true neo-con. He beat the drums of war for the invasion of Iraq, supported the nomination of John McCain before he was even our 2008 flop, supported the bank bailouts last October, and smears Ron Paul and all his supporters (including me) to this day. He even took his personal hatred of Ron Paul to a new low last year when he interviewed and wished success on the Republican primary rival who ran against Dr. Paul for Congress. Today, John Gibson preaches amnesty for millions of illegal aliens in the vain attempt at luring those same illegals to the GOP. John Gibson is one of those false messengers that real American conservatives should tune out.
Beer and sandwiches is all anyone really needs. Well, some smoked, salted almonds would be nice too. Congressman John Sullivan made an appearance at one of the tea parties in Tulsa. He got up on the stage and gave a real "stem winder" of a speech. He was fired up! He said he is gonna take the tea party message back to Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, and Harry Reid. And his message to them is that we aren't gonna take it anymore! Does this mean John will not seek re-election in 2010? After all, he voted for the bailout of banks in October of 2008, and before that he voted for earmarks from the federal budget. All of this meant taking money from the people at that tea party, where he was passionately condemning such extravagance. Yes, John, were aren't gonna take it anymore. We are gonna work to elect someone else next time around, I hope.
A dear friend of mine died on March 21st. He was former Rogers County Assessor Fred T. Morgan. Mr. Morgan was 79. I visited him 10 days before he died. Mr. Morgan was county assessor from 1995 to 2000. I was in the courtroom on that January morning in 1995 when he was sworn in as assessor. He hated property taxes and wanted to make a difference for property owners in the state. That is why at 65 he ran for county assessor at a time when most men his age retire. Mr. Morgan was one of those responsible for creating the five percent cap on annual property tax increases. He lobbied the legislature and got it capped at five percent. Still, Mr. Morgan wanted it lowered even further.
Serving as the new president of the Rogers County Property Owners' Association upon my return from Virginia, I worked with Mr. Morgan, who was kind enough to serve as my vice president. He would talk to me about "the people" in a respectful way. He cared about those struggling to pay their property taxes, and he never lost his passion to make the ad valorem system more just for all.
In my 29 years as an activist, I have worked for a member of congress and met governors, senators, and state legislators. Few have impressed me as Fred T. Morgan impressed me. His example has made an indelible impression on me. He was a true friend and mentor. It may sound trite, but Fred T. Morgan was a Great American and a Great Oklahoman. May he rest in peace.
